Near the sides the the pattern changes from a rectangle shape to rounded. It has the same feeling as the belly but just a cool new scale look. This round pattern is used often in the luxury world for watch straps, belts, card slots and many other small leather goods. The flanks com from high end full hides that were tanned and finished in France. These hides are used by the top swiss luxury watch brands for their watch straps. The flanks are the perfect size for watch straps, lanyards, card slots, and accents like the strap on a field notes cover, etc.

Often the flanks will include some of the belly, but not always.
